tecton3d
Hi guys, I'm trying to get rid of the artifacts in this image where it appears to be shadows near the top of the building. I'm rendering with Max 2012 with default settings and a daylight system. GI is turned on and the geometry is imported .fbx from revit. Please advise how to get rid of this shadow effect! I think it's just a setting somewhere in Mental Ray that I'm not toggling... Prost!
datacrasher
as i said to victor in the MR section the daylight system is only meant for animating the scene to turn day into night i would get rid of the daylight system and use the normal lighting because with the daylight system you would need to change the brightness, mid tones etc in the Logarithmic Exposure Control when you use the normals lights the you can excluded the stuff you don't want to be hit by the lights but with the daylight system you cannot Edited May 27, 2012 by datacrasher
Peter M. Gruhn
My first guess is that you box modeled this and need to throw on a smooth modifier with auto turned on. I don't think I have a second guess.
david.s
I would recommend turning off GI and only use final gather for external renders when using daylight system. Also make sure MRSky and MRSun are selected in your daylight system. That should fix your problem. Don,t forget to modify your exposure settings as the MRSun and MRSky will wash out your renders. Happy rendering!
Justin Hunt
are you using a saved FG map? If so re-recreate it.
marius e
As Peter Gruhn mentioned, I also think its a modeling issue rather than lighting or rendering, looks like geometry try adding the smooth modifier.
