kevinelika
Do you guys know, everytime i find a nice 3d model, its size is bigger than 3 MB, and when I import it, my file size become bigger according the total size of 3d model I use. Now, my MAX file is 20 MB, and it always crash when rendering because of the big file size. Do you have any solution to use those nice 3d model without crash? i always copy file by instance, to make the file size not so big, but it always crash when I render it, I used Vray for rendering, and Macbook Pro 15" i7 4 GB RAM, I use 3dsmax 32 bit, on a Windows 7 32 bit. I have ever try the Vray Proxy method to make the 3d model size not so big, but it still always crashed when rendering. Please help me get out of this problem! Thanks! jmcumming
Maybe try opening in ACAD and purge and audit model before importing into max. Im not sure exactly the details but i think the more polygons the bigger the file. Maybe explode blocks to 3d surfaces in cad or something. kevinelika
okay thanks! any other solution? and is the problem is because of the 3dsmax 32 bit? have you ever meet this problem at 3dsmax 64 bit?
jmcumming
Not sure about the 32-bit. I used maxwell render before with 32-bit and was fine, I just heard max doesn't like blocks. Im new to vray actually any suggestions on my thread http://forums.cgarchitect.com/70903-vray-problems.html ?
Boris Horosavin
Dude, I really think it is all about your hardware. 4GB should be bearable, but Macbook... I'm not so sure about that. Anyway, I don't know which version of Max you are using but be sure to update it to latest Service Pack and all the hotfixes from here (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/index?siteID=123112&id=2334435&linkID=9241178). If you don't update your Max, no matter which version, it is bound to crash often.
lanae
Make sure your file from Autocad is in 0.0 coordinates...or it would bring you a lot of problems...
erickdt
and is the problem is because of the 3dsmax 32 bit? Yes. Upgrade to 64bit.
matthewspencer
20MB is nothing, it should not be crashing... I have a 2008 Macbook which can manipulate/render much larger files than that. Hopefully you are using Boot Camp and not Parallels or Fusion? I agree with the "try 64bit" suggestion, Win7 x64 + Max 64 + Vray runs just fine on my machine
