Scott Schroeder
Does anyone have recommendations on power plans in Windows 7? For the longest time, I used the high performance power plan, but now after doing some researching it's typically suggested to stick with the balanced power mode. It's best to let the system decided when it needs power, and I hear it's pretty good at it. Plus, it does make sense that you don't need a full on power charge when you are just browsing the web or asking questions on CGArchitect forums. Has anyone experienced issues, such as lagging, when using balanced power mode in 3ds Max? Is there a difference in render times? Though, I'd imagine if there was it would be in less than a few seconds difference.
AubreyM
I use the balanced setting and I have never had any issues. The only thing I change is that I tell it never to put the computer to sleep. The rest of the settings pretty much are based on if they are active or not. So if for example you set the HD to turn off after 20 minutes the HD would have to not read or write any data for 20 minutes before it shut down. I have not had any issues with rendering times, even over night ones, while using the balanced plan.
AJLynn
You can leave it on balanced. It will take care of itself in the background.
