Ashleymatthews
I like the layout of the scene. The lights over the picture on the wall adds to the mood. What time of the day were you aiming for?
AubreyM
Nice job so far. I think that a few of the textures lack a little life and are a little flat. Most notably the wood textures. Not sure what mood you were going for but the image is a little dark, the couch looks like a black block because of the lighting. I'm not a fan of the camera angle but that is purely personal preference. A few tweaks and this will be a really nice image
Larissa Holderness
Thanks for the comments! I was aiming for night time ... around 10pm. This is my first attempt at doing a night scene so, still learning. The sofa material is suppose to be a nice black leather. But, I am having a hard time pulling it off ... especially with a night scene. Any tricks on how to make the leather pop more? The wood materials are a bit flat. I put a bump and reflection map on the floor but, it didn't seem to help much.
AubreyM
Play with the reflection percent of the reflection map. The amount of reflection (color swatch) and the overall lighting. Also the Highlight and reflective glossiness settings in the reflection rollout will also make a big difference.
Larissa Holderness
I have been working on the scene. And actually I have a day time render (not uploaded yet) and a night time render that I am working on. In the day time render, I have added an HDRI to create better darks and brights. Will be uploading that as soon as it renders. As for the leather, I am tweaking that as well. Using a TON of photo references and actually changing which model I use has helped a great bit. Less 'boxy'.
matthewspencer
Hi Larissa, it looks like there's a large subtle light bounce creeping in from the left side of the image. To me, this is reducing the believability of a 10pm setting. Maybe worth tweaking? Also, maybe take the lighting down in the area with the espresso cups, while maintaining bright highlights on the cups. My two cents!
Larissa Holderness
Well, here is an update. Day light this time ... HDRI The light coming from the left is actually the dining room lights. I may turn them 'off' while rendering the scene at night from this camera.
