Ashleymatthews
Studio/Institution: PersonalGenre: Residential InteriorSoftware: 3D Studio MaxWebsite: http://3dworkz.blogspot.comDescription: I was practicing with the wall lights trying to get them to falloff better. I wanted the skylight to be the main source of light but also have the wall lights cast illumination. Any feedback will be great. Any tips/ideas on how to get my wall lights to look more realistic will be helpful. Also if someone can explain why my floor has those white specs, will explain a lot because I don't understand why that happens. Thanks
AubreyM
I assume you are using ies lights so maybe a different ies file. There are thousands out there to choose from. The white specs are specular reflections from the bumps, it's reflecting a light source. Your bump/wood grain is way over stretched and doesn't look natural and I think you could tone down the reflections on the floor a bit and the bump value too. Try this for the floor, adjust the uv's so they are smaller and look more natural, take the bump value down some and then in your bump map add a color correct then select "invert". You could also add the bump map to the reflection slot (with the color correct) and then play with the percentage of reflection and adjust the brightness of the color correction. Let me know if you need some ies files and I can point you in the right direction.
Ashleymatthews
I used a photometric spot light in max. I have never used an ies light but I will research it to see how it works. This was my first time really using bump maps I am trying to get better with texturing. Thanks
