mi75
Hey everyone, Has anyone watched the "V-Ray 2.0 for 3Ds Max (Arch Vis Advanced Session) by Lon Grohs? http://www.thecgschool.com/training-courses/vray-advanced/ I had a look at the sample video and read the table of contents and it looks pretty good but my only concern is what level of knowledge is it aimed at. It does mention 12 months of production experience but depending on where you work and what you work on that could be quiet broad. I've been in the industry for about 10 years and I'm always seeking out more knowledge of ways to do things better etc.... The type of work we do is quiet monotonous little spec homes with a turnover of about 3-4 houses per day with the odd animation and internal shots. Therefore not much time is spent experimenting and refining skills. I've bought and read the VRay Book cover to cover over the past couple of years and I currently subscribe to digital tutors and always linger around CG relevant forums. Has anyone else with similar experience watched the course and feel like commenting on it? Thanks Mart
Jeff Mottle
Hi Martin, The advanced class goes through an actual Neoscape project and all of the techniques they use in actual production. Given they are the top of the field, their techniques, while not the only way to do things, are about as advanced as you get. We're working on some stuff now that will be even more advanced, but most people seem to be pretty happy with these videos. We've not had any complaints yet. mi75
Thanks Jeff, The other stuff your working on, is that likely to be similar but expert as opposed to Advanced and will that be released soon or is it quite awhile away. I guess I'm asking because if it wasn't to far away I'd think of waiting to see what it is before buying this one? I understand It's probably a difficult question to answer. Jeff Mottle
Some of what we're working on it expert level. It's a ways away. Later this year, early 2013.
CheekyBeagle
Hi Martin, I completed these videos whilst living and working in Sydney, now I work in the Neoscape NYC office, so I can testify to the quality of these videos. I've been in the industry for about 8 years, and still learnt some valuable techniques that I use today, along with some insight to the workflow of a company as successful as Neoscape. I was absolutely happy paying for these videos. Edited June 13, 2012 by CheekyBeagle
