Genre: Retail Exterior
Software: Cinema 4D R13
Description:

Need to beef up my portfolio - so I decided to replicate this street.

Textures are very basic right now - need to dirty it up a lot.

C&C is welcome throughout the whole project. I'll post here often.

DISCLAIMER: The Japanese characters are only placeholders for now. I'll modify them during texturing.

Thanks!

This is really good stuff. Can't wait to see the final product.

Try an strong ao pass > composite it over the beauty pass on multiply > paste your beauty pass into a new channel and use it to select all of the light areas in the image > select your ao layer and hit the delete key. I use this technique is to dirty up stuff that is not getting direct light.

Also, make your tree's leaves more translucent and eliminate at least 2 of the leaf colors. I rarely see japanese maples with more than 3 main leaf colors. You could throw a couple browning leaves in the mix.

Keep going.

Thanks Antoine. Really appreciate the comment. I'll get back to work on it tonight.

Great idea on the AO pass. I haven't dealt with a separate ao pass - I imagine in photoshop. Will try it later on tonight.

As for the trees - I'll definitely try that once I get past the buildings. The image(s) with the tree are the actual photos with the actual tree. I didn't remember seeing it when I took the photo - It was a nice surprise once I was downloading the images from the camera.

Thanks again!

Bummer... No. I wish. That's just the reference photo.. It's a real street. I snapped that photo very early in the morning during a recent trip.

The image with only the first 2 buildings done is the one I'm working on.

I'll post some updates soon

I'm impressed! That's exactly where it is.

The modeling will be pretty easy here. The reason to dup this photo is primarily to study texturing and lighting. I want to spend done time dirtying the whole thing up and replicating lighting and haze as well.

If only the real job didn't get in the way!
