I´m relatively new at this, so please take a look at the render and tell me if you think it achieves that feeling. Also, comments in general about improvement are greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ben
Corey Beaulieu
I think you should reconsider your flooring. Mies seemed to build a link between the inside and out by using a stone floor that literally flowed from inside to out. Roofs that extended far beyond the interior also helped to blur this line. Right now you camera angle doesn't really draw attention to any particular feature that would be explanatory of this blurring. It looks to be inside and 2 rooms away from the outside. If its outside then there is nothing telling us this (sun). Lastly, I wouldn't map a textured wall when it's that close to the camera. It gives it a video game feel. Try a displacement technique (if C4D has one).
benschuetze
Hey Corey, Thanks for taking the time to comment. About the floors, the home will actually have wooden floors, so I can't change that, but I know what you mean. Same with the roofs. I guess the architect used the Mies concept as inspiration, but because it´s not that pronounced, I was having trouble conveying it (perhaps I need to change my camera angle, but I can´t imagine a better one that would convey the same concept). I definitely see what you mean about not being able to tell whether you´re inside or outside--it is actually outside, but I will definitely add the sun as you said, to make that clear. And about the wall, I have actually used displacement, but I will tweak it a bit more. Thanks for your suggestions! Ben
Corey Beaulieu
So if the image is taken from an outdoor camera then the flooring does carry outdoors. You just need to find a sun angle that can help exaggerate this idea. As to the displacement. Maybe just subdivide the wall so that it has a lot more geometry to move. Displacement on a box doesn't work very well.
