Mental Ray Glare Shader

I have read all the threads on this shader but still can't seem to be able to get it to work.

 

I want the background through the windows to glow, I have unlocked the shader and imported it into the output box of the camera shaders section with-in the render tab! Then I draged it across to an empty sphere within the material editor and selected instance. I took the Quality up to 4 and the spread up the 1.5.

 

From what I have read thats all I need to do, am I missing something or is there another way of achieveing the same result.
