Jim Mann
Don't mean to sound a bit dim, but where has the "Net render" checkbox disappeared to in Max 2013? Or am I doing this all wrong adnd should be doing something differently to the way I have been working for the past decade? All help appreciated. Jim Mann
Don't worry, found it after 45 mins searching. Which muppet got paid for this little brainstorm? At least I know where my subscription goes now. I like how it now reads "Submit to network rendering" like its a command to admit defeat. Someone at Autodesk having a wickedly cruel joke? bev.lynn
The following link may offer a little more information on that subject: http://area.autodesk.com/blogs/garyd/quick-fix---3ds-max-2013-state-sets-and-network-rendering
Nic H
autodesk are idiots wasting money and time developing new features such as 'removing the net render button' while leaving millions of other faults. they will never get my money
Umesh Raut
autodesk are idiots wasting money and time developing new features such as 'removing the net render button' while leaving millions of other faults. When you reach that level of world dominance (read monopoly) and are sitting on heaps of the fattest cash bags, you tend to be that arrogant, dumb and unresponsive. That's business as usual for them. Josef Wienerroither
Again: this change which might seem strange at first glance provides the future possiblity for 3rd party renderers to hook into that menu and extent it. That would not have been possible with the previous way of a fixed checkbutton. And i guess that "Submit to ..." text is some sign of a Autodesk cloud rendering entry that will appear there sooner or later ...

Fran
There used to be a way to sync the background image in the viewport. I have not been able to find that anywhere. I wonder if that's been turned into an Easter egg too?
Josef Wienerroither
Are you talking about "Reset Background Transform" ? You are right it's missing in 2013, but still was there in Max 2012 I always mapped it to "ALT T" keyboard shortcut here. You can bring it back yourself using the UI configuration dialog and looking in the "Views" section for "Reset Background Transform"

Someone at Autodesk having a wickedly cruel joke? just upgraded to 2013 recently. I looked for more than 45 minutes and couldn't find it. Not even via reading their help docs. Thank you Jim!
