maxgooday
Hi, I hope someone can help me out here as this is crazy! I've created a single output file with just the camera and lights in. I have Xref's loaded into that file. Vray distributed rendering doesnt work and just causes 3DS Max to crash. If I merge all of the Xref's into the output file then it works fine! All maps and Xref's have a network path so I know that's not the problem. I am running 3DS Max 2012 and Vray 2.0 SP1. Any help would be great, Thanks, Max
Corey Beaulieu
We were just discussing this same topic in the studio this morning. It's just one of those things as far as we could tell. Our best speculation was that the xrefs become too much for the DR machines to load in a sufficient amount of time and thus they kick out and return black buckets. I know what I've written isn't helpful per se, but I wanted to at least respond and say, you aren't alone. It is a bit frustrating, but if you save, then merge, then render, and close the file without saving again, your work flow is only mildly disrupted. maxgooday
It's just a fundamental part of using Xref's. Do you know if this issue has been resolved in Vray 2.2? There must be a way of delaying the time taken to load the files before 3DS Max decided to give up...
