Devin Johnston
I read a thread on another site about Max having a speed limit when transferring data to the Manager and Slave computers. Basically my computer has a Gigabit connection to the Manager machine which also has the same connection. When I send a job to the manager the task manager only shows a 1% usage in total bandwidth which equals 10 Mbps. Can anyone confirm that Max is limited to 10 Mbps when transferring files to be network rendered? Is there a way to increase this?
Jennifer
I don't believe there is any limit to the bandwith used by max; that wouldn't help anyone, so why? You have a gigabit connection at the manager, but if you don't have a gigabit switch and gigabit connections at the slave machines, then you may not see more than 10-100mbps. They need to be full-duplex, too, for fastest use. Once the file is loaded into the slave, there is virtually no bandwidth used anyway except an occasional ping for a manager update. Making any bitmaps available locally on the machines rather than on the server helps, too.
