dsp_418
I'm moving my steps forward with Vray. I'm trying basic material setups, even though I've followed several tutorials, now I'm stuck with a very basic issue. I've a Vray material applied to a plane. I've got a texture in the Diffuse channel and it works fine. Turning on the reflection and going from dark to bright, I would expect seeing the reflectivity increase. Instead the plane just become darker. The brighter I go on the reflect scale the darker the plane become (and I almost cannot see the texture anymore). I must be missing some very basic knowledge here, but cannot figure out what.
dsp_418
Hm... turning 'fixing dark glossy edges' on seems to fix the issue. Is that a correct work flow?
Stephen Thomas
What is your object reflecting though? I'm guessing it's the default black environment.
Corey Beaulieu
I think Stephen is right. If you turn your reflection color all the way up to white (255) or full reflective then the only thing it can reflect is what is around it, which by default, is the black environment. Try ticking Fresnel Reflections on. This should at least show you the material at blunt angles and become more reflective as your view becomes more glancing. Fix Dark Glossy Edges is for a specific type of example. It is typically left off.
dsp_418
Actually I've added a sphere on the scene, right over the plane. The sphere has reflection as well. I also have a sun light and a plane light. On top of that I've added an HDRI map to the env.
