Opacity map & vray ZDepth?

Hi,

 

Does anyone know how an opacity channel can be included in a vray z-depth pass?

 

I have a 2d character mapped onto a plane in 3d max with a black & white opacity channel, however the z-depth pass just sees this as a solid plane and does not take in the opacity channel?

 

Does anyone have any ideas?
