M V
I have a folder of 2d plant images I bought a while back from TurboSquid. The only issue is that each plant came with a diffuse and then a separate alpha map file. Does anyone know a quick way to convert this whole folder so I can have the alpha applied to each file as a PSD or something? I am thinking I have to go one by one and do it manually and that is grim.
Scott Schroeder
You can record an action in Photoshop that'll help automate this process. Maybe there is an action script hanging around on the web as well. Are you looking for something to do this outside of Photoshop?
M V
No, I am doing it in Photoshop and I am pretty faceted with scripts and batch files but I am not sure how I could batch it. I guess an action saves me a little time.
M V
800+ items in 2 hours. Thank God for actions! It took me a minute to think about it but I made an action that would take the alpha copy it close it create a channel in the plant image file, make that channel into a mask, select that mask, apply the mask, then save and close the file. I setup the action to run with a shortcut key. So now I just sit here and open files and hit F5... alot.
Scott Schroeder
There may have been a way to batch file that, but the time it took you to figure it out and write the thing, you could hit F5 800 times. You can always buy one of those birds that drinks the water and have it hit the F5 key for you. Like when home bound morbidly obese King Size Homer Simpson set the bird to hit the "Y" key.
