Devin Johnston
I was given this project with the express purpose of making it "look realistic". All of the materials and lighting was done in Final Render, I'm still tweaking the water and sand right now. Right now my AA settings are pretty low, that's why you can't see the joints very well. Any comments are welcome.
Ernest Burden III
It does look realistic. A few LOW clouds, a background well matched to the model (saturation/contrast-wise) and more livliness at the ground and you have yourself a hit! Iain Denby
First thing I noticed are inconsistances in the shadow and shaded areas around the balconies. Also, add some sky tones to the glass, particularly towards the top.

Devin Johnston
Those inconsistencies in the shadow are a result of low GI settings; I haven't cranked them up yet because I'm still playing around with materials.
Devin Johnston
I've been doing some testing using different GI settings and although it does affect the shadows to some extent, that isn't the problem. These are images that show what my problem is, as you can see when there is no ground the shadows are distributed evenly. When I add the ground the shadows begin to be distributed unevenly. I think the problem, if you could say it's a problem is the ground is uneven sloping towards the water. I think this is causing the GI solution to cast more light on some portions of the building and not on others.
