Dimitris Tolios
Probably sticking with IPS panels is not a bad idea... With $250-260 you can get get 23" 1080p LED backlit monitors from Dell, NEC and Asus. I would consider going up to $320 and the Dell U2412M which is 1200p and buys you a bit more real estate. IPS will get you more and deeper colors with much wider viewing angles (thus also more consistent) than the average TN panel found in most flat LCD screens. But available pixel space is also important, especially when dealing with lots of toolbars, activeshade viewports, or multitasking with more than a single program / plugin simultaneously. In this case, multiple displays are invaluable, and for many the productivity gains are preferable over a single nicer 1080p-1200p monitor with more accurate color reproduction, and probably you can get 2x decent TN 1080p monitors with your budget (or close). there is no definitive answer...
