Tommy L
These are often interchanged incorrectly when people are discussing 3d... 'material' is an umbrella term for the collection of shader and settings applied to an object. 'map' is an external reference that drives a particular channel in a shader. It can be procedural or bitmap and there are many kinds. 'texture' is the same as 'map', but is m,ore commonly referring to a bitmap. So you could say "a glass (material) has a fresnel falloff (map) in the reflection channel and an HDRI (texture) in the environment override channel".
