MaukSaundeus
Hi, Someone has very kindly given me a Quadro FX 1800 they had going spare. My existing card is a GeForce 8800 GT 512mb. I use 3ds max 2012 with nitrous VP and was wondering which card will give me the best performance? In case it makes a difference the rest of my system is Gigabyte mobo z77-ds3h, 16gig 1600mhz ddr3 ram, i7 3770K ivybridge, running win7 64bit. Thanks Mark
Jason Matthews
Your existing 8800 should do fine, but the quadro is a workstation card. You may get a little better performance out of the quadro, but its probably a wash. The 8800 has nearly double the Cuda cores as the quadro, but the quadro has more memory for loading scenes. Dimitris Tolios
Well, since you have them both, I would say try em both! I do believe that the Quadro will have a slight edge in CAD/Wireframe displays etc. In the long run, choose for yourself, and sell (or better, pass as gift) the leftover card. Sidenote - isn't the 8800 GT the last easy to soft-mod into a Quadro GTX...??? Edited September 7, 2012 by dtolios
