palestblue
I've been trying to texture a model similar to this free one from design connected, however I'm not having any luck with the mapping. http://www.designconnected.com/category/free/Snug-Chair_p5116 Obviously Planar/Box UVW mapping won't work on a model like this, so what method works then? I haven't used Unwrap UVW but I'm guessing that's the way to go? Are there any good tutorials out there? Thanks!
Ismael
http://www.neilblevins.com/cg_education/cg_education.htm Scroll down to "Pelt Mapping". Check all else there too. Wonderful resource.
palestblue
Wow, that is amazing. Thanks! I ended up with some unalignment along the pelt seam, but it's pretty close. I tried another technique which probably isn't correct, but I just flattened the map of the unsmoothed mesh into a rectilinear arrangement which allowed the seams to line up perfectly. I realize this creates some distortion but it looked okay. I'll have to check out some more resources on the site!
