Hey,

I have a building I'm rendering in 3DS Max 2013 at home but I need to transfer it to the 3DS Max 2012 software at uni. When I tried this the other day I got a whole bunch of missing links to my materials and can't work out how to relink them all without re-applying them to each element.

Is there a way to achieve this?

Yes, just archive it or use 'resource collector', and check 'include ,max file' and 'update materials'. That way, the Max file will be zipped with all scene maps, all paths reset, etc, so you can bring it home and work normally without any map or map path issues. Btw, resource collector is in the modify panel under the hammer (you might have to click 'more'.

Ok, Now when I do that will I be able to transfer it to another computer and have all the materials load exactly how they are on this computer?

Go to 3ds max, in save menu rest mouse on save as then one popup will appear in here choose archive so it will automatically find all mats and textures, from all machines related to scene make sure u have all machines turned on if there are any.if u still have missing textures do this,

go to 3ds max menu in here click on Manage->asset tracking now ull get the menu where all textures present, now just chk the status wether it is missing or Found thats all if it is missing manually browse and relocate them.

http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/relink-bitmaps

this will help sort any issues

click and point to where it is

Yeah I have already downloaded this script but I wasn't sure if it would work on the uni computers. I didn't want to get there and have uni tell me I can't use it so I wanted to see if there were other options.

Cheers for the advice
