mzagorski
It seems that no one is using the CG Architect MIRC Channel recently... the amount of people using it seems to fluctuate between a mad rush of 5 people within an hour... to zero people! Where is everyone? Other channels like #3dsmax and #brazil_r/s are busy and have regulars... No one want to chat.. or you all too busy working? nisus
I connected several times, finding an empty chatbox... again... and again... before the latest server change, more people popped in regularly... and that number was growing! Than the server change blew it up again... I still wonder why the server change was necessary... not from my point of view! rgds nisus

Jeff Mottle
Well someone tell me which server you want it on and I'll put it to whatever you want. I keep moving it becuase people keep complaining that they can't get in so I change it to where they want and they still complain...arggg!
nisus
I'm sorry Jeff, we don't really want to complain. Imho, the last server (i believe it was efnet) worked just fine so a change was not necessary. rgds nisus
STRAT
i think you're on to a no winner here jeff. i was on austnet most of thismorning and into the afternoon (like i am most weekends) and nobdy dropped by even once. i hate efnet as it's almost impossible to log on in dos based mirc. (which is 10 times faster and adaptable than java applet)
Jeff Mottle
Hmmm, so in your opinions which is the best of all of the evils? give me the server names of the top 3 servers you would use. Please.

Not sure who you use STRAT... It seemed find, nisus and me were in there most evenings (UK / Belgium time)... and we were starting to get more people turn up... then the server got changed and since then, its all gone to shit basically... STRAT
i'm with NTL, but trying to use mIRC to log on to austnet is almost impossible. Jeff, my top nomination for server to use - enterthegame
mzagorski
Ahh... NTL ... There's your problem STRAT!!! Im in a city with 250,000 people and they cant even get broadband to my house! :ngeupset: Poor show... Hmm... enterthegame? What the hell is that STRAT? a channel? STRAT
the availability of broardband in the uk is poor. luckily i live exactly 1.75 miles away from NTL H.Q.   , altho saying that, even tho my town is tiny, only 1/2 can get it :gebigeek: and yes, enterthegame is a channel. and how is NTL my problem? :angenone:

Richard McCarthy
DOS based mIRC? You mean Windows based ? Where are you? I know efnet is quite fickly sometimes, but it usually works for me. Try some euro server like *.uk one or .no one. they are usually very forgiving of where you are from and allow you to use their server. -RM Originally posted by STRAT: i hate efnet as it's almost impossible to log on in dos based mirc. STRAT
shelled out to a dos window in the Window's environment that is mIRC is allot faster than a windows java applet like what cgarchitect uses. i think maybe the whole topic is null and void tho as i dont really think the whole idea took off. mzagorski
Topic void?... huh? Well... the idea (if you are talking about mIRC) did take off... just that I've not seen you in there for maybe a year or so. STRAT
i usually visit on saturdays, but 99% of the time it's empty all day.
mzagorski
Are the weekends not for having fun and getting away from the PC LOL... Might be an idea to setup some kinda of set time/day to populate mIRC CGA channel? Anyone for preferences (please also state time in relation to GMT)
STRAT
good idea maybe if ppl can also post up say when they generally go on line. STRAT - Usually through out day light hours on saturdays, GMT.
nisus
Well, I haven't connected to many times lately for a couple of reasons... - we reinstalled every HD as we changed our network in the office, so I didn't reinstall mIRC until recently. I used to have it on my second machine, but since it's running a server now, I have to use my workstation. As flashing background buttons are not that easy to follow than a second mirc screen, I don't connect that often anymore. - still not sure what NET cga is on... I still connect on Efnet or Dalnet (don't know really, but I didn't make the change to the last (austinnet?) yet... won't do that eihter btw...) - been too busy rgds nisus
nisus
An online suggestion from Dr_Rambo * nisus * Dr_Rambo has joined #cgarchitect hi noone around ;-( haha do you know cgarchitect.com ? yeh I know LOL yep I think we should tell Jeff to move the chan to #architecture might as well.... more architect there and more architecturally interested ppl always idle there I think once some ppl join and see there ARE SOME ppl in a chan.. they are more willing to stay even thought those ppl might not be talking sometimse.... bck héhé cgarchitect changed servers too many times (about 4 times in 3 months) so people are hard to trace back now LOL yeh I know dal net some other net and somet other net again idd awful I have some suggestion ah pls d one. make the the java applet button NOT launch immediately because some ppl use mIRC and like to know where should make it launch a small window and with info for how to connect (what server, #chan) and also a button to launch irc java applet more infomative also, make a sticky "thing" in the front area of Cgarchitect about chat ... so EVERYONE knows about it..(instead of a obscure little button) and make it known that its benefit (realtime chat, question ask and answer in realtime back t nx i'll forward this to jeff
Jeff Mottle
OK Here it is: I've moved back to the EFnet network will it will stay unless it blows up or is abducted by aliens. I've also switched to #architecture as you suggeted so that there is some appearance of activity. I don't mind if I'm not an OP so I don't see it as too much of an issue. When you click on the LIVE CHAT button there is not a link that says "HOW DO I CONNECT WITH mIRC INSTEAD?" Hope everyone is happy now...now go chat.
