Gander0
Hi all, As this mobo was recommended a while back on one of Andrews lists I thought I might as well ask the question here as I haven't found my answers elsewhere. Basically the title says it all. Has anyone been able to run 24GB ram on the Asus Rampage III Extreme? Really don't want to have to replace my motherboard in order to upgrade memory (Currently 12GB) Many thanks!
Jason Matthews
Yes it can take up to 24GB of RAM. Make sure you buy the triple channel RAM. http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1366/Rampage_III_Extreme/#specifications
Gander0
Hi Jason, On paper this should be OK, but I've yet to find a link on-line to anyone other than those who have had problems. eg: http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?1535-Rampage-III-Extreme-24gb-Ram-Help-please
Jason Matthews
Maybe contact ASUS and inquire about it. I personally do not have this MB but I do have the Sabertooth and she is maxed out at 24gb. On a side note, if you are on windows 7 make sure you have pro or ultimate since home premium only takes up to 16gb. Jason Matthews
Gander0
Thanks Jason, Windows 7 Ultimate. Will try Asus though tried and tested is often more successful so I thought I would try here first. Cheers Jan
Dimitris Tolios
I would not worry much about it. Just get 3x dimms just like the ones you are running now, and plug em in.
