Sometimes files won't open or Max won't close

Hi,

I have a very strange problem with Max 2012 and 2009 on 2 PCs. I have noticed that frequently when I open a file made with Vray the file won't open (Max just freezes) and then when I close it the window goes away but the process remains in Task Manager and I can't kill it even with "End Task". It disappears from the list by itself after 2-3 mins. and the next time I open Max it gives an error which looks something like this:

Also, sometimes when I close max It just won't let me. I have to kill it in Task Manager. This happens if I've opened a file made with Vray.

 

It's strange but this happens with both Max 2012 and 2009 on 2 PCs. Can you please help me solve this issue? Thanks in advance!
