jimmeacock
I'm new to Onyx and Maxwell. I've been playing in Broadleaf and I just exported a tree as an OBJ file. Imported into Maxwell and it contains no colour info. It's all silvery grey. I must be doing something wrong....
matthewspencer
OBJs store their texture data in a supplementary MTL file which you may have seen littered about your computer. Maxwell does not use MTLs. So the only data Maxwell is interpreting is the polygonal data as well as some other embedded OBJ data (e.g. normals, UVW). To render in Maxwell you need to make a choice: 1) Take your colorless OBJs and texture them in Maxwell Studio 2) Use a standard 3D app like 3DS Max or Cinema 4D, choosing one that Broadleaf can export to, and that has an available Maxwell plugin. Export from Broadleaf the appropriate file format, which will include texture data. Bring that file into its native 3D app and do your rendering there. jimmeacock
Thank you for the reply. A 3DS file could only be in 32 bit for Maxwell. I wonder if that's an issue I need to deal with somehow.

I don't understand what you mean by this. Can you clarify? Maxwell is a 64 bit application.
