salvador
Hello guys, I have a sofa model without materials applied. I have another model with a fabric that I want to apply to my sofa. Since I'm not the best at mapping objects, I was wondering if there is a way to extract the UVW mapping coordinates from the second model which is already collapsed. Acquire function doesn't work unless the second model had a UVW map modifier still present. That been asked, you must know that I first checked the forums and googled for it for hours and found nothing useful. Thanks in advance
Ismael
Here is a good simple tutorial which I also need to watch and start doing, http://viscorbel.com/news/uvw-unwrapping-a-sofa/

mikebart
Im not really sure what you mean so i might be telling you something you already know, but you can copy and paste UV's from one model to another, this usually only works if both models are derived from the same source geometry and it can only be done in the faces sub-object level in the UVWunwrap editor window, select all, edit, copy, then paste into the other meshes UVs in the UVWunwrap editor window did that help? could you show some pictures of the models to get a better idea of what you mean? if the sofas are similar in shape you could try projection rendering the fabric parts diffuse from one object to another, not sure if that helps either
salvador
Interesting. I did know this actually, but it got me thinking. What if I attach the sofa to the source model and then add a UVW Unwrap to the combined new model and then copy paste the UV's per face or group of faces? Would this mess up my source model's UV's? It's worth a try. Thanks Michael.
