Chris MacDonald
I've rendered out a frame from max and saved it (and several render elements) into a 32bit float .exr file. I can access the RGB and Alpha channels but can't seem to get any of the others - specifically a multimatte. I'm using both Photoshop CS5 and After Effects CS5. Surely at least one of these supports .exr channels? Any help is much appreciated.
Ricardo Eloy
Only Photoshop Extended can read the channels inside an EXR file...

anejo
If you haven't already, you may need to install the following plugin. http://www.fnordware.com/ProEXR/
Valtiel
These lovely folks have a tutorial on opening your passes to layers inside PS Extended.
Rich O
From memory, PS Extended can read EXR's, however you need the ProEXR plug-in to read the individual channels. Personally I think it's the easiest way to work with EXRs, otherwise you'd be looking at something like Nuke which is IMO beyond the needs of archviz.
