spunk91
I'm working on a project, where i need to specify the the correct size and angle of the light cone. I know you can do this with a standard light, "hotspot/falloff". but is there a way to control this with a vray light? //Niklas
Stephen Thomas
You can still use the spotlight with Vray. Not sure which Vray light you're referring to, but neither plane lights, dome lights nor sphere lights have a cone and the softness of shadows is related to the size of the light source. If you mean Vray IES then those are controlled by the IES file you're using.

I thought about using ies light, but i cant seem to find any guide how to create a ies profile with the exact lumen and degrees. Do you know any? Stephen Thomas
There is an ies generator program available online. A quick search will find it.
Stephen Thomas
Spotlight might still be your best bet though if you want to make quick tweaks in realtime. Though the IES might allow you to creat a more interesting light shape. Worth experimenting to see what suits you best!

salvador
Aligning would be easy if you already have your light setup, not targeted, using the standard align tool.
Ismael
There is an ies generator here http://www.nachothomas.com/downloads_english.htm Of course, an IES file is basically the measurement of distribution of light (intensity) stored in ASCII format. http://www.cgarena.com/freestuff/tutorials/max/ieslights/
