remilanza
Hi! I am trying to learn about wiring parameters, and playing around with some gears. So in my case I have 3 gears with different sizes, gear1, gear2, gear3. If I wire Gear 2 to Gear 1, it works well (Gear 2 turns when I turn Gear 1). But if I wire Gear 3 to Gear 2, then when I turn Gear 1 nothing happens to Gear 3. Even though Gear 2 turns. Is it possible to change that, or do I have to link gears to one "main" gear? I hope you understood my question, a bit difficult to explain:) Thanks
CGeist
Is it possible, that you connected the wrong parameters or maybe the wrong control direction? Because this should work as you described.
remilanza
Thanks. I don't think I did it wrong, I tried a few times. Maybe I'll try again later. But I ended up riging everything by just wireing all gears to one main gear. But you mean that if I have gear 2 wired to gear 1, and then wire gear 3 to gear 2, gear 3 should rotate when I rotate gear 1? Because what happened was that, gear 3 rotated if I manualy rotated gear 2, but not when I rotated gear 1 which made gear 2 rotate. ________________ I have one more question regarding this topic. Let's say I rig a setup with many gears, belts ect. Maybe a motor or something. How can I make that set up or motor rotate for itself in space in any direction? I haven't look deeply into this, but if I just group it, and then move it around, everything messes up.
CGeist
Hi I just tested it myself. Works perfectly. Are you sure you´ve got the right control direction? You shouldn´t be able to rotate gear2 after you wired it to gear1 (except you choose a two-way connection). Here is my simple scene with 3 cubes wired together. wireTest.zip If you want to rotate the engine in space you could link everything to a dummy object and then rotate and move this object. remilanza
I couldn't open your file for some reason. But I tried again in a new scene, and it worked! Not sure what was wrong before, I'll check that out when I have time. And linking to a dumby worked perfectly! Thanks Gerald.
