Sketchup to 3ds max and v-ray workflow

Hi! I'm a solid sketchup and vray user. I've been using it for 1 year now. The advantages of using sketchup and vray are they're fast and easy to manipulate. the downside is, I can't seem to make the trees and foliage as realistic as i want them to be but the buildings look fine. so i was thinking of exporting the building model from sketchup then import it to 3ds max and add the trees and accessories from there, then render the scene with vray for 3ds max. so basically i just want to know how to:

-import models

-Edit Materials

-Add lights

-Adjust the vray settings

-model basic elements

-render realistic trees and grass

I am in to Architectural Visualization so i think there is no need in going through all the complex stuff in 3DS MAX. I'd appreciate it if you guys could share some tips, references, and websites for these .
