petergarton
Hi! I'm doing a scene of a room and outside of the windows, I have an image of a landscape. But I don't want to get reflections from the image on the glossy floor and I wonder if there is a way to turn it off? I have this background image on a plane object. I have deselect the Visible to Refraction/Reflections in the objects properties. But I guess this only affects the 3d object and not the image!? But how and where can I turn off the image so that it don't affect the surroundings in the scene? I'm using Mental Ray with Arch & Design materials and 3ds Max 2013. Thanks! H A
Hi Peter Tak a look into the Environment/Background Switcher as the environment map This way you can have a background image and another one affecting your reflections. -Henrik
John Dollus
can you upload the portion of the scene with the background plane and the floor? It should work exactly as you have it setup
theeastcoastwest
1.) how are you integrating the background image into your scene? (env/refl slots, backplate, etc...) 2.) Try, and I think this should work unless you have your image in one of your environment slots, selecting your object that is creating reflections, right click, on the menu click object properties. On the menu bar on the top of the dialog box, the far left tab reads General; click that tab and on the right side on the menu under Rendering Control, un-check the Visible to Reflection/Refraction option. Obviously that won't work if you have your image in one of the environment slots, as far as I know anyhow, but otherwise it should work. I hope that helps you get the results you are looking for.
