JHalton
Exciting, about time we had something in the North of england. Took us years to get colour TV. lol http://www.cgifestival.com/ Would you pay the full £180 for all the areas or just stick with the £10 - £15. Jeff Mottle
I guess it depends what you want to see, but knowing how much these events cost to put on, I'd say even the full price for the 2 day event is a pretty good deal.
Jim Mann
Took us years to get colour TV. LoL, we once made a special trip from Scarborough to my aunts house in Selby just to marvel at her brand new colour telly only to find that the main program that night was a black and white film. Slightly more seriously, Tuesday looks a bit more interesting than the Wednesday for Leeds. Not a huge amount of stuff that is relevant to arch viz but then we all spend more time reading Cinefex and artists monographs than we do reading CAD magazines right? I will probably go, the floorshows are usually pretty dull and full of students. The conference should be better. Anyone going to the Max 7 thing in Manchester later today? Iain Denby
I'm considering it, but not sure if there would be enough interest specific to our specialisation.
IC
I feel the same. I get enough aliens and robots from 3d World every month.
Jim Mann
I'm considering it, but not sure if there would be enough interest specific to our specialisation. Thats pretty much what I thought but I always think that we can learn from parallels in other areas of the industry. My only experience of an all arch viz conference was the old C3 conferences where the content was varied to put it politely. Maybe the robots and aliens aren't so bad. We can learn stuff from those guys, could they say the same about us? JM
JHalton
Its good for me. I am starting to do Product visualisation using Rhino as a modelling tool. Be good for me to see how things are put together with animation and production that sort of thing. I definatly think that going to these help inspiration and imagination. At the end of the day its 3D which is my passion.
IC
The reason I got into 3d was because of things other than architecture-that seemed too much like work at first! Gradually I was drawn back to it and now I really appreciate good design and visualisation. That's what I think the FX guys can learn from us-a simple chair in a room (lit well) can be a thing of beauty. The first time I saw Otacon's work was an interior image he posted on CGTalk. It had great potential but the suggestions he got there were to add a knife and some blood!! Says it all really.
STRAT
Leeds eh? hmmm. brings back dodgy memories of a drunken student orgy i once went to there. Some girl thought i was the spitting image of Phil Collins, so my luck was in, then it all went pear shaped rather rapidly. think i'll leave this thread now
