Scene Explorer/Curve editor tutorials

Anyone know of any advanced Scene Explorer or Curve editor tutorials?

I know the basics of smoothing out a curve to smooth an object or camera movement, that bit I'm ok with.

But with at the BlueGFX expo a couple of weeks ago I got to see a quick demo of Max, and more specifically the Scene Explorer and Curve editor were shown. He used them to Select objects by material type, name and many other sets etc.

But the bit I'm looking for is how he then made an instance of those objects selected very quickly - any ideas how that is done?

Also he could copy and replace items with new geometry in a second too. Like replacing every lamp post in a city scene with a new piece of geometry, in just a second

This is the trouble with demo's like this, the pro's can rattle through the tips soo so fast that we can't follow them anyway :(

Yeah, very true. I still remember an American demo artist for the mighty A (in Mumbai - India, some years back) changing an interior scene renders in MAX from daylight to nigh time with even the TV switched on and casting its glare and radiosity around; of course it was so so swift that all we audience could do was just exclaim,'WOW!'. It was a G buffer element render and combustion post; and within next two seconds he flew us to something else. So much pro attitude it was. :)
