Multi-channel EXR

Hi,

where I work we do ArchViz, lately they been getting quite complex and we are researching for new techniques and tools, we basically work around ADOBE's master suit, so we are experiencing very slow performance when working with Milti-channel EXR inside After Effect we diced to keep rendering all passes and channels in separated files, but that mean to reload scene by scene layer by layer and that take forever, while if we use multi-channel this will be a lot quick.

My question is, how is your experience working with Milti-channels EXR on After Effects, Good, Bad, good in some situations only, or you guys use other compositing software for that Such Fusion, Nuke?
