Nic H
I was trying to do some animated volume light for an underwater scene using a noise map in the projector slot. However noise is a 3D map and makes '3d' splotches in the volume light What am I doing wrong here
Nic H
http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/proceduraltexturebaker tried this to bake it out to 2d - but it wont do image sequences i remember years ago a '2d noise' on scriptspot that was also loopable - cant find it anymore maybe _ _ _ edit - seems this isnt possible will just do it in fusion and make an image sequence from there. probably easier but means i can sync it to animated phase rates Edited December 18, 2012 by nicnic
notamondayfan
You don't need a script to render out a map from the material editor of max, all you do is open your noise map, make sure Show End Result is not highlighted, then right click on the preview in the editor and click Render Map... If you've animated the Phase in the bump map, then the render will render the sequence. Also try this http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Graphic/Graphic-Others/Caustics-Generator.shtml I've used this in the past, don't know if it's quite what you're after, but it works well for faking caustics on the bottom on the ocean.
