Krisztian Gulyas
How can I get rid of those shadows in the corners (or at least soften them)? I'm using 3ds max and vray. I dont know which settings affect those shadows, if you tell me that, i can experiment whit the numbers. Thank you Edited December 19, 2012 by krisztiangulyas
johannestiner
Do you have ambient occlusion on?
matthewgriswold
Looks like you're using VRayDirt map. Try increasing the falloff distance or drop a noise map in the Occluded Texture slot to break up the consistency of the occlusion. http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150SP1/vraydirt_params.htm
Krisztian Gulyas
No, I'm not using Dirt map, just turned on AO and rendered it. Never happened this before, when I turned it off, those shadows softened, looked niced, but i need AO to be turned on, otherwise the images looks too dark at parts. Krisztian Gulyas
Johannes Tiner, yes AO is turned on. I tried changing the radius and the intensity, but didn't help.
Krisztian Gulyas
I found a solution. Just turned off AO and set the Irradiance map's quality to medium and now everything looks nice. Thanks for replying.
Chris MacDonald
i need AO to be turned on, otherwise the images looks too dark at parts. Ambient occlusion makes corners/surfaces that are close to eachother darker. If you turn it off your image will be lighter.
