Krisztian Gulyas
Would you hire me (or anybody else) if I have nice portfolio (no graduation)? Is graduation really that necessary? I usually create models and interiors in Max.
BrianKitts
depends on how good your portfolio is.
heni30
Your portfolio is just part of the package. If you have a nice piece in your portfolio but it took you 2 weeks to produce, that is not good. You must have a thorough working knowledge of your tools which will only be determined by how you perform on a real project. If I was a boss I would only hire someone on a probation period basis. This way I could see their software tools proficiency, work habits, communication skills, attitude, etc. and decide if he/she/it (future robots) would be a good fit. The portfolio is just to grab someone's attention initially. (Yikes - so many double entendres floating around here) Edited December 22, 2012 by heni30

aristocratic3d
lol. Can you take a deeper look at the mechanism that human body has? The detail? from protoplasm to blood? the brain. creativity? If a robot can achieve these qualities definitely you wont be able to hire that but that robot will hire you. (most likely that will create another one who is flawless like thyself.) But this is not going to happen. we are at the very end of this universe. just take a look at the world population and its sustenance possibility in the next 100 years. the population will thrice larger than what it is now. Now please think about solving the unemployment problem of Krisztian Gulyas. Also me. I am not unemployed but would love to have a better job. (some kinda job where I will have to compete with artist like peter.) Your portfolio is just part of the package. Krisztian Gulyas
I'm not unemployed. I mean I'm 18 and am finishing high school next year. There are no schools/courses that would really teach me modeling, texturing and all that. I've tried finding a good school, but there's none in my area. Well actually all that 3d stuff and animation isn't really in demand here, but this is the only thing I can imagine myself doing. I dont want to change the topic, but I like designing interiors as well (and I'm planning to get a master degree in interior design). Do you think I can make a few hundred dollars (around 500 a month) creating interiors (or exteriors) in 3D and selling them online? This is my last rendering. Do you think I can make money with this level of quality? Im trying to make a portfolio but now this is the best image I can create. Here's another one. What do you think about this (and the other one)? I'm using Max and Vray and I'm always trying to be better.
