olivermccarthy
I'm trying to create some geometry for a windshield. I've used the window trim to create a spline but not sure where to go from there. The windshield does have a slight curve (http://cdn-www.rsportscars.com/images/audi/2008-audi-tt-coupe-32-quattro/auditt07_121600.jpg) if that makes any difference. Also, it is only half a spline as it was taken from something with a symmetry modifier. Thanks in advance.
olivermccarthy
This post took around a day to approve. I appreciate it's new years eve though so just want to say that I've solved the problem myself. If anyone's interested, I broke the spline up into 4 pieces across the windshield and used a cross section modifier, then a surface modifier. Tweaked the vertices a bit and it looks ok. Still open to suggestions though if there's a better way. Thanks.
matthewgriswold
With the original spline (pre breaking it up), if you right-click_convert to editable poly, would that not work? If all the verts are welded it should create a polygon, then you could select verts opposite of each other (top-bottom, left-right) and connect/cut across the face. This would create more verts across the face of the windshield for further tweaking the curve.
olivermccarthy
Hi Matt. When I converted to an Epoly it just left the vertices, no edges. I checked the vertices on the spline and they seemed to be connected/welded so not sure what the problem is. I'm new to max, but not 3d software, so it could be a fairly simple problem.
