Ismael
Studio/Institution: NoneClient: StudyGenre: Residential InteriorSoftware: Max/V-RayWebsite: http://NoneDescription: Thanks to Andy for his posted reference image. Made me start modeling at which I'm terribly bad. Took me forever to do the pool but with a new year coming and some work I'll get quicker. The image was done at low settings and took about 0.5 hr. I'll get back to whipping more geometry, materials; etc.
Corey Beaulieu
somewhere in the tutorials of this website is a cool tutorial on how to create sidewalk curbs with a spline so that mapping around a curve isn't an issue and so that all "brick" are touching. I think that would be a good choice for modelling the trim around the pool.
heni30
Nice lighting. The texture on the columns seems a little too rough. I would have a little more capital showing on the columns - either by making the top bigger or by making the arches' negative space bigger. Pool trim is usually not that wide. Back railings seem a little big for the size of the pool - and I would lower the water level. Edited December 31, 2012 by heni30
salvador
Agree with all the above. I'd also desaturate the columns and walls colors a bit. The pool trim is usually thicker and exceeds the tiled surface by a couple of inches. Happy New Year to all CG architects ;)

Ismael
Not accounted for all the details but some progress. http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/6524/final2yq.png Edited January 1, 2013 by Ismael Add image link
heni30
Looking better...........the 2 distracting things - the texture of the pool trim seams to be tiling in a too regular pattern - maybe a procedural texture would work better instead of a map. And the water is not reading separate from the pool wall; epecially in the upper right hand corner of the water. I'm not a water expert so I wouldn't know how to differentiate them a little more (transparency? reflection?) And the column is still too textured - I imagine a kid running around and running into it and scraping a piece of his face off.
Ismael
Tried to address those issues here George,
heni30
Looks a lot better. I just lightened up the edge of the water a tiny bit in PS and i think it looks better. I've found you can't be a slave to how things are in reality. Things need to be tweaked if something doesn't feel right even though that's the way it really is. Ismael
Try lighting through windows without burning windows or outside.
