Dell M6700 with ATI FirePro M6000, Vertex problems in 3ds max viewport

Recommended Posts

Hi, tried to search around the web, but no luck finding a solution on my problem.

Last Summer/Fall my job got me a Dell M6700, With the AMD FirePro M6000 Graphic card. We use Civil 3d and 3ds Max where I work.

My problem is when im in Vertex mode in poly edit, sometimes the vertex dont show up before i select them (the blue dots not there). I find this a bit strange since the FirePro supposed to work "flawless" with 3ds Max...

Some other bugs sometimes occure in the viewports to, but mainly vertex mode is the dealbreaker for me on this one...

Anyone know if there is some preferences i change in 3ds max to fix this?

Cheers!

Jepp, tried all that, so gonna contact ATI and Autodesk and ask if they know about the problem, and if they can fix it. Or else I will demand Dell to change my graphic card to the Nvidia K3000M.

Well...good luck with your "demand"...don't know if Dell will be "courteous" enough to keep you happy, but...keep us posted either way (changing it from a AMD to a Dell support topic)

EDIT: did you fiddle with the "performance plugin" from AMD for 3DS Max too? Or was it just with the basic drivers? EDIT@EDIT -> forget it, AMD claims that Dell is responsible for Driver support as this is a customized application of the FirePro card for this machine...generic drivers and plugins etc are not guaranteed to work. Talk about shifting the burden

Hi Lars, I've been dealing with this same problem with my M6700 and the Ati M6000 for a few months, after Dell refused several times to accept a graphic card switch for an nvidia (I even sent them a video showing the problem, making it clear that it's a real pain trying to work with this...). Now and then I try to uninstall existing drivers and installing new ones, but the problem persists. Even changing to directx visualization mode doesn't fix the problem. I'd be grateful if you could post what solution, if any, did you find. It's really frustrating.

Thanks!

Thanks in advance.
