alexserg
Hello, The image on the left is with the ghost shapes showing up through the window. The one on the right is how it should look. I have used Walls for the creating of the room and sliding windows. After a while the ghost rectangles appear. If i change any of the parameters of the window they disappear for a few minutes and then reappear. any ideas what may be causing this and how to fix it ? Thank you
Chris MacDonald
I get this too, and it looks like z-fighting even if there is none. I have come to the conclusion that it's just the max viewport being absolutely shit - it's needed an overhaul for a long time now. Use orthographic mode if you have to. Corey Beaulieu
It could be a viewport thing, but it could also be an AEC Walls thing. I don't use them and would strongly encourage you not to, but just like a slice plane, when your window cuts into your wall, Max has to rapidly regenerate your geometry in a new way. As you move the parameters around, Max struggles to make new polygons and resolve them accurately. Slice plane has the option of recreating Quads or Tris (Tris usually work best), even still. If you need a wall and a window, I suggest using a line, extrude, shell method. Place vertecies where windows should go and then add an edit poly atop. Connecting edged and then using the bridge function can create windows and the modifier stack will allow you to continue to change the thickness of the walls. Nic H
that is crappy geometry dont use the AEC objects they dont work.
alias_marks
Sometimes if you have geometry way off the origin, like a couple miles, max starts to act really wierd with geometry.. If ditching AEC objects doesn't work might double check to make sure everything is somewhat close to the origin..
