c0nfused2
Hi, I was wondering how do I render a selected object only like in mental ray but in Vray. While it still receives lighting reflection and the scene aroudn the particular object. Thank you.
Chris MacDonald
Sadly this is one area of VRay where I have to concede it isn't as good as mental rays "render subset" feature, however it has been requested on the chaos group forums. You'll have to find a work-around, of which there are probably many. You may want to (temporarily) switch everything elses object properties to invisible to render camera, but still visible in reflections/shadows? Corey Beaulieu
Use a Vray Material Wrapper to create a Matte for objects that you don't want to see. Tick Matte, Shadows, Affect Alpha, and switch alpha contribution to -1.0. in the Base material node place an all black, non reflective material. With this you can set the material override in the global render settings and the exclude the item or items that you want to render. In the end you will have a pass tat is only an object or two with shadows and the reflection of the scene on them, but nothing else.
