danb4026
Whenever I use "from File" for the IR map, Vray does another IR pass before doing the beauty pass. Is there a script or utility that can prevent this from happening?
Corey Beaulieu
There definitely should not be any additional IRR pass if you are loading it from file. I think something else might be up or VRay is not properly recognizing that you are trying to load from file.
Scott Schroeder
Are you 100% sure it's an IR pass and not an interpolation pass? Check any and all materials to make sure you are not using interpolation, if you don't want to anyways.
danb4026
NO, not using interpolation on any of my materials.
Corey Beaulieu
What is happening for your secondary bounces? With Multi-Frame Incremental, you should have Light Cache on Fly-Through then on the final render end you should load your Irr from file (as it seems you are) and then put your secondary to none. The light Cache should get stored with your Irr map so there is no need to run a light cache.
danb4026
This is the problem that is confounding me. The IR pass, using DR, has these dark buckets. I have checked all paths, bitmaps, LC and IR map paths, permissions, etc. and can find nothing that could be causing this. I am lost.
Corey Beaulieu
I see. That happens from time to time in our studio. We have always chalked it up to oddity. We can usual get things to work just by restarting the spawner. It could be a memory thing or it could be over my head, but I have seen it and fixed it this way. When all else fails, i use a different DR machine, but that is hardly a solution.
danb4026
The LC is not the problem, the IR map is... Yeah, I already restarted the spawners and the machines themselves, to no avail. This rendering takes too long to just use my workstation but I am also wasting a lot of time trying to resolve this problem. danb4026
I think I may know what is causing the problem! I have a greeble in the scene casting shadows. I neglected to install the plugin on my slaves. Keeping my fingers crossed. YUP, that was it. Added the plugin and all is well.
