NoodleLuff
Often when I import models from Microstation as DWG's, every layer comes with hundreds and sometimes thousands of objects... my curent file is 41000 objects, after removing blocks. I currently select, isolate and attach every layer which take wayyy too long. Is there a way of fixing this on import or export? Thanks
Krisztian Gulyas
You mean to import to Max? I'm not sure, but I think there are some options that you can change but in Max you cant group different layers, so maybe you can import all in one layer or all in different layers. John Dollus
generally speaking, import by layer. If you have a sloppy microstation file, you will have a sloppy import. If you are only using it as background, you can also force Max to collapse everything to one object during the import. play around with the import options in the dwg dialog box and I'm sure you will find a better combination than what you are currently using. Nic H
there is a script called resetmesh.ms that removes empty blocks, hierarchies, collapses geometry by layer etc or you can use the attach selected script to do it manually by selecting layer 41000 object scene must be very slow!! microstation files are a nightmare. NoodleLuff
Thanks Guys Most of the times its ok, it's just some files. I guess it's the way the building is modelled/organised etc.. My Microstation knowledge is pretty limited... Thanks Again
