danb4026
I have been using AVG for some time but would like something lighter, easier to use and configure, and less draining (Cheap or free would be nice too!) Isn't there something simple out there that can protect without using too much of my system resources and interfere with productive time? The most important thing is that it is easily configured for my network rendering and DR.
Francisco Penaloza
I have been using AVAST for years, no problems at all, if you install AVAST after you have installed Max and V Ray it will take the existing firewall configuration. Kaspersky is other good option.

Matt McDonald
if your machines are Win7 or Win8 you can use Microsoft's anti-virus. It's free and I've found it to be unobtrusive.
Dimitris Tolios
I think MS AV essentials was found to be not very reliable in a couple of the latest iterations/updates. I personally like ESET NOD32, and have been using it since my XP days (think since its v2 or something)...
danb4026
Lots of opinions on this. The most important Thing to me is ease of use. I hate having to Use advanced features and creating custom Exceptions, etc. Is it necessary to have one with A firewall if windows has its one firewall? Scott Schroeder
Yeah, I wouldn't put much faith into Microsoft's anti-virus. It's got more holes than my Sunday watching-football-all-day pair of undies. Ditto Windows firewall. Anything built into Microsoft can be considered to be at the most risk for exploitations. I just put AVG 2013 free on my machine and I don't find it to be obtrusive, complicated, or anything. I've heard good things about Avast but it's not as good as AVG for stopping threats according to PC Magazine.
Krisztian Gulyas
The best is Kaspersky, but it will slow down your computer like that's it's first priority. The second is Norton 360 and i have used it for months and computer runs like usual, didn't get any slower and i think it is easy to use. There's a quick scan and full scan option or it can scan different HDDs/partitions. It automatically scans all the downloads, and pages before and after you open them but will alert you just if neccessary. Kasperky can detect about 98% of the viruses, Norton about 96%. It costs $50 per year (special offer) but I think it's worth it. Edited January 11, 2013 by krisztiangulyas
