juantheodore
Is there any way/scrpt that allows Max to Uvw unwrap an object to scale? I mean if I uwv unwrap an object and I want the unwrapping to be done in such a way that when a texture is applied it is to scale automatically without having to scale/stretch? Krisztian Gulyas
Well if you render out the UVW template and paint the texture on that in photoshop then you don't have to scale/stretch it, but then you have to create the texture in the right scale. You can always change that later in photoshop though and it will automatically change in Max. Edited January 11, 2013 by krisztiangulyas
juantheodore
ok, but in the case of let say a stone wall or a curved roof and if I want to map an image on the surface and I want the map to be to scale? Do you know any script that does the job automatically?
Krisztian Gulyas
Well then you have to use real-world scaling. It can be turned on when you create the material or in preferences i think. Then you have the image for example tiles (just for example). On the image you have four rows of tiles and you want that the height of one tile to be 15cm so you set the height of the image to 60cm because on the image there are four rows and when you assign it to an object that's 60cm high, there will be 4 rows of tiles on that object. You can do that with every image, you just need to know the dimensions of one object (brick, tile or one stone in a stonewall etc).
