Cyrus3v
Studio/Institution: N\AGenre: Commercial ExteriorSoftware: 3ds Max, Sketchup & VrayDescription: Hi everyone, this is my first post although I am following this forum for some time. Any way this is a work I am doing and I would like to ask for your opinion. I did just a raw render, so no post-production yet but I would like to have another couple of eyes to tell me what can I change to achieve a more realistic feeling. I have some restrictions, for example I have to use the concrete block to represent another building and I can not change the camera angle. Looking forward for hearing your critics. Cheers, Cyrus
Matt McDonald
It looks pretty good. I've got no real complaints. I might like to see some people. Maybe a little bit of highlights on the metal gate.
John Dollus
The placement of the delivery truck makes it look like part of the structure. I'd suggest it be moved or adjusted. The eye tends to search for an exit which, at the moment, is the open gate. Generally, you want the viewer to be pulled into the image toward the entry. I'd also suggest increasing the levels on the street facing façade. currently, the two planes of the structure are very similar in tone.
heni30
There is a kind of monotone to the whole rendering. I would make the sky bluer and have shadows a little more pronounced - the mullions above darker. It seems strange that the building wall comes right down to the street. Normally you would have some kind of setback.

Maybe a little bit of highlights on the metal gate. Thanks Matt. Yes, I would add some people on post-production process and perhaps a car too. The placement of the delivery truck makes it look like part of the structure. I'd suggest it be moved or adjusted. The eye tends to search for an exit which, at the moment, is the open gate. I opened the gate just to add some "life" or at least try, but is interesting that concept of the eye search for an exit. So technically if I close the gate I am blocking the exit and eventually the final image will give a claustrophobic sense? I am not too sure what you mean on the second part but I suppose it means that I need to increase more the contrast so the facing building can be more perceived? I am "struggling" with client with this situation, because I too agree that it would be good for the final render. It's funny how someone says: I want a realistic render, but you can not do this or that. There is a kind of monotone to the whole rendering. I would make the sky bluer and have shadows a little more pronounced - the mullions above darker. It seems strange that the building wall comes right down to the street. Normally you would have some kind of setback. Thank you too George. As I said, this is just the raw render, so in the end as you said I will work on the sky, shadows and add more contrast. I know it looks strange the wall goes right down the street, but the client wants this way. Just finishing some details and I will post a new render. Thanks for your help, Ciro
