AS far as lighting goes, I think you are close. It doesn't look like you placed a spot light or IES in the ceiling lights. it looks like you just used a light material. You could play a little with the exposure on your camera, but really I think you just need another layer of light.

As far as the rest goes... A few CC's:

-Check out the floor genorator. It looks like you mapped a plane.

-Rooms like this are a bit boring so do something dramatic with the light. Maybe a volume light coming in or get an intense color shift between exterior light and interior (one is blue and one is orange).

-Lastly, pick a few different wood maps. You canuse the same tone like you have, but everything looks like one map.

Looking like a good start.

  • 2 weeks later...

really like the materials you have on the sofas, they looks near perfect.

The 3rd image (or your original) looks much better, the main problem area for me is the floor. Im guessing that the floor wasn't created using floor generator? and the bump map is 90 degrees out too.

http://www.cg-source.com/floorgenerator.php Heres a link to floor generator and a video tutorial :)

Karuna, these are shaping up nicely.

My only criticism is the placement of the background image in Post #5. Your camera is so low that you really wouldn't be able to see the horizon. Consider raising the camera or lowering the background so it matches up better.

...also, throw a verticals correction on the camera. :) Some of your objects/walls are close to the edge of the frame, but they're not running parallel to the edge of the frame...this is really only personal bias, but it seems distracting.
