tomsampro
Hello, I have a site that is 3 km long, it is a linear site. I would like to make a aerial rendering to explain my concept, what lens length would be appropriate? thanks
Justin Hunt
one that will fit the site and look good.
Chris MacDonald
Agreed with the above comment. There's no hard rule about it, just go with what looks best. Obviously a long focal length will give the impression of "collapsing" the perspective to an almost parralel projection, and a short focal length will do the opposite and make the far end of the site appear to shoot off into the distance. Depends what effect you're going for I suppose.
Corey Beaulieu
For aerial stuff I usually place a camera quite far from the scene and then zoom way in (a high numbered lens, 200mm or so). This helps straighten the verticals because you shouldn't use a camera correction mod or the shift values in a vray cam for an aerial.
Dimitris Tolios
In my opinion it should not be less than a short tele lens ~ i.e. at least 75mm or more. Getting a wider-than-natural perspective will be distracting, giving a more un-natural feel than it would in interior scenes - we are used looking at wide angle interior photos/renders already, so we can "take it".
