oluwapelumiajeigbe
Apart from Vray material, Vray light material & vray carpaint, please how can I know the usefulness of other vray types in the material editor. for example, i need a specialised vray types to execute cloth, curtain, rug and wood materials. Simply put, what is the use of VRAY(blend?, 2sided, fastsss, override, etc)? thanks.
Corey Beaulieu
Override is for an situation like a hardwood floor in a white room. This would render in a way that turned the white walls brown because of colored GI reflecting off of the floors. The Override allows you to set a different material as a GI bounce than the base material. SSS and FastSSS are for skin and maybe ceramic type material. A material where there are different colors beneath the surface. (sub surface scattering) Blend is like carpaint or like what you would use for architectural glass where there are coatings on top of reagular glass. The rest and for more about these you can read yourself: http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/200R1/
oluwapelumiajeigbe
Thanks very much Corey. I am trying to get the right vray type to use for a cloth, though have used vray material but am sure it can be better under a different platform. The cloth doesnt map well and unifromly. Any help please? Cheers. Am finding it hard here to attach my rendered image to this effect.
Corey Beaulieu
Map it before you wrinkle it. That is not about the material type really. fabrics tend to look fine with a basic vray material. i sometimes at the bump map in the opacity slot and adjust it so that it isn't completely see through, but so that it looks light. Chris MacDonald
Definitely a mapping issue here, not a VRay issue. The standard VRay material will do everything you need, fabric wise.
